Overview

Jared Nagley is a partner in the Antitrust and Competition Practice Group in the firm's New York office.

Areas of Practice

Jared focuses his practice on complex antitrust matters, including defending clients in litigations and government investigations brought by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Department of Justice's Antitrust Division, and state and international enforcement authorities, in addition to advising clients in their mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic business issues.

Prior to joining Sheppard, Mullin, Jared spent eight years at the FTC’s Bureau of Competition. Jared served as the FTC’s lead attorney in several significant public matters that resulted in Commission victories litigated at the federal appellate level, the abandonment of transactions when faced with a Commission complaint, and settlements requiring divestitures, including matters in the healthcare and life sciences industries, such as Penn State Hershey Medical Center/Pinnacle Health System, Navicent Health/Houston Healthcare, and Becton, Dickinson and Company/C.R. Bard, among others. While at the FTC, Jared led investigations and litigations throughout the United States across a variety of industries, including healthcare, consumer goods, technology and industrial products. He negotiated civil settlements, including consent decrees involving significant divestitures, and regularly represented the Commission in joint investigations and litigations with state attorneys general and foreign competition authorities. The FTC recognized Jared for his outstanding contributions with the Janet D. Steiger Award.

Jared also has expertise in representing clients before the FTC and State Attorneys General in investigations involving a range of federal and state law consumer protection issues, including the use of post-employment restrictions and deceptive business practices.

Jared is a frequent speaker on panels sponsored by the ABA, AHLA and NYSBA, and is a regular guest lecturer for graduate students in healthcare economics.
