Noel Vales is special counsel in the Finance and Bankruptcy Practice Group in the firm's New York office.
Areas of Practice
Noel has several years of experience in real estate finance transactions representing investment banks, insurance companies, regional and national banks, and other financial institutions. As lender's counsel, he has worked on loan originations, refinancings, mezzanine loans, CMBS loans, construction loans, and permanent loans. He has also worked on the purchase/sale of mortgage loans and loan securitizations. These financings involve properties such as multi-family affordable housing, hotel, casino, condominium, retail, shopping center, and office building.
Additionally, Noel has represented institutional equity investors and real property owners in closings related to the construction, rehabilitation, and operation of housing developments that utilize the federal low-income housing tax credit program and other government-assisted programs. He has represented clients in the acquisition/disposition of real property involving single and multiple asset sales. Noel has also represented landlords and tenants in the leasing of office, retail, and warehouse space, including drafting and negotiating commercial leases, ground leases, subleases, lease amendments, and settlement agreements.
Noel currently serves as the President of the NFALA Foundation, which is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization that focuses on providing scholarships to law students and that works in collaboration with the National Filipino American Lawyers Association. Noel is also a board member of the University of San Diego School of Law Alumni Association.
