Alexandria (Alex) Foster is an associate in the Corporate Practice Group in the firm's Washington, D.C. office and a member of the Healthcare Team.

Areas of Practice 

Alex represents healthcare entities such as hospitals, medical groups, ambulatory surgery centers, academic medical centers, pharmacies, behavioral health providers, onsite employee clinics, and health plans on an array of regulatory, compliance, and corporate matters. Her practice experience includes advising healthcare clients on a blend of regulatory matters including healthcare fraud and abuse laws, facility and practitioner licensing, Medicare and Medicaid participation requirements, telehealth, EMTALA, scope of practice, and the corporate practice of medicine. Alex also advises on the healthcare regulatory aspects of complex transactions, including managing healthcare due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.

Alex also routinely counsels clients on HIPAA, 42 Part 2, and other data privacy laws, including federal and state breach reporting requirements. In the pharmacy sector, Alex advises pharmacies on federal and state laws regarding controlled substances, changes of ownership, internal investigations, supervision requirements, and other compliance issues.

Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Alex worked as an associate in the healthcare practice group of an Indianapolis law firm. While in law school, she served as the Notes and Comments Editor of the Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality, participated in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition, worked as an Admissions Department Fellow, and was the President of the Black Law Students Association.
