Dan (Becky) Du is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm's Shanghai office.
Areas of Practice
Dr. Du specializes in global intellectual property (IP) protection strategy, helping clients in life sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals in IP counseling and management, global patent profile management, IP due diligence and patentability analysis.
With solid academic training and research in life sciences, including four scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Du worked for over seven years in a top ranked China law firm, where she handled important IP matters with Chinese and US colleagues, institutions, and companies in such technical fields as chemistry, food science, biotechnology and pharmacology. She has extensive experience in patent strategy development and global patent prosecution (in particular immuno-oncology and cell therapies), due diligence analyses on patent portfolios for financings, mergers and acquisitions, licensing, collaborations and initial public offerings, and freedom-to-operate (FTO) and legal compliance. Dr. Du also represented funds and institutions in conducting IP due diligence on portfolio companies or companies to be listed.
Serving as an in-house counsel for two years at I-Mab Biopharma (Hangzhou), Dr. Du was in charge of patent prosecution management, IP agreement review during corporate transactions and HGRAC (Human Genetic Resource Administration of China) contract review, IP counseling and due diligence in project launches, and product R&D and clinical development.
