Consumers are asserting their privacy rights, including HIPAA rights, more than ever, and HIPAA has taken on a new buzz. But what is HIPAA and does it really apply to retailers? The answer is: it could. So, how can retailers avoid additional governance and risk under HIPAA? This presentation is a HIPAA primer with practical considerations to apply to HIPAA implementation or, alternatively, a need for a HIPAA “out,” especially where gracious retailers may have stepped into HIPAA unintentionally.
