Institute on Medicare and Medicaid Payment Issues
This session will discuss the significant changes since January 2025 to the legal, policy, and program landscape related to efforts by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to advance health equity. The session will highlight the CMS Framework for Advancing Health Care in Rural, Tribal, and Geographically Isolated Communities and will describe critical issues and opportunities to advance equity and value-based care in rural communities through the Medicare and Medicaid programs, including:
- Understanding the unique payment and care delivery context for rural health care providers and communities
- Evolving Medicare delivery, coverage, quality and payment in rural communities, such as growth in Medicare Advantage, quality measurement and reporting changes, and coverage of services to address health and social needs
- Medicaid Section 1115 and Section 1915 demonstration projects to advance health equity
- Opportunities to participate in value-based care in rural communities
