Areas of Practice
James focuses his practice on complex business litigation, private wealth and fiduciary litigation, and class action defense.
James takes a forceful yet credible approach to advocacy to consistently achieve favorable results for his clients. James’s clients value his accessible and compassionate approach. He is best known for his deft written work product, his keen ability to identify key strengths and weaknesses of any case, and his attention to detail in discovery. James’s steadfast commitment to credible advocacy stems from his experience working in federal courts during and immediately after law school. James clerked at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California after law school where he gained an intimate understanding of the Court’s inner workings, civil motion procedures, and trial practice. In law school, he also gained invaluable insight into the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit’s decision-making and opinion writing processes as a judicial extern. James heavily draws on these experiences to advocate effectively for his clients at all stages of litigation in both federal and state courts.
James is also committed to public service. In law school, he graduated with a distinction in public service for providing pro bono services to the Los Angeles community year after year. James has since returned to his law school to teach a civil pretrial practice course as an adjunct faculty member and regularly provides pro bono representation to asylum seekers throughout the asylum process and beyond.
