Kara Du is an associate in the Corporate Practice Group in the firm's Century City office and is a member of the firm’s Healthcare team.

Area of Practice

Kara’s practice focuses on public and private mergers and acquisitions and general corporate counseling representing a wide variety of healthcare related clients across the country. Kara’s experience includes advising on corporate formations and structuring, governance and operational matters, drafting transactional documents, navigating corporate practice of medicine issues and managing due diligence investigations.

Kara regularly represents private equity funds in platform structuring, acquisitions and growth investments in the healthcare services, health IT and clinic sectors, serves as outside general counsel and buy-side acquisition counsel for private equity and growth equity backed portfolio companies. Her representative work experience includes representation of healthcare provider and management organizations, technology companies, managed care organizations, nonprofit and for-profit health systems, home health and hospice providers, and behavioral health providers.

Outside of her legal work, Kara is also a certified wine sommelier. She currently holds a WSET Level 3 Advanced Wine Specialist Certificate, a sommelier license issued by the Court of Master Sommeliers, and a Certified Sherry Wine Specialist certificate with the Wine Scholar Guild. As a dedicated member of Sheppard Mullin, Kara regularly hosts client events that feature curated fine wine tastings, offering clients a unique opportunity to connect over shared experiences in a relaxed environment. Her events have become a hallmark of the firm, strengthening client relationships, promoting community engagement, and contributing to business development.
