Sheppard Mullin Team Argues U.S. Supreme Court Trademark Case for Hana Bank

12.03.2014

On December 3, 2014, the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments on behalf of our client Hana Bank in its trademark dispute with Hana Financial. This follows a successful jury trial in 2011, which was affirmed by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in 2013. The Supreme Court will now decide whether the doctrine of trademark tacking is a question of fact or one of law. Carlo Van den Bosch argued the matter with assistance from Bob Rose, Michelle Wisniewski, and Gazal Pour-Moezzi. Appellate specialists Karin Vogel and Robert Stumpf provided valuable help, while Seth Kim and Ken Carl were also instrumental. A decision is expect in early 2015.  News about the argument appeared in Law360, National Law Journal, Bloomberg, National Law Review, and several SCOTUS-related blogs.
