Questions To Watch For In RFK Jr.'s Confirmation Hearing
Ahead of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Senate confirmation hearing, Law360 spoke to healthcare attorneys and other industry experts about what they expected the hearing to focus on.
Amanda Zablocki, co-leader of Sheppard Mullin's Healthcare team, anticipated that the hearing would probe Kennedy's intentions for the future of HHS, especially regarding vaccine promotion. "He has pretty deeply held beliefs, it seems, against the safety of vaccines, so I think we can expect a lot of questions around what policies he would seek to implement or revoke around vaccines,” she said. "Healthcare leaders are pretty focused on the fact that [Kennedy] doesn't have a background in health, so will he be open to understanding and learning from the medical community more about vaccines, or whether he will allow his personal feelings or biases to influence his policy decision? I wouldn't be surprised if there's some hedging or some broad statements to the effect of, 'I'm not going to let my personal beliefs influence my decisions,’" she added.
