Overview

Mathew Schutzer is special counsel in the Business Trial Practice Group in the firm's San Diego (Downtown) office, where he focuses on healthcare litigation. He is well-versed in complex civil litigation, including managing discovery and case management.

Before joining Sheppard Mullin, Mat was an associate at another major law firm and spent a decade in public service. Following clerkships with Judge Tanya Chutkan of the United States District Court for D.C. and for Judge Todd Edelman of the D.C. Superior Court he moved to the Department of Justice. There he worked on investigating and litigating disability rights matters in the Civil Rights Division and on health care fraud matters at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California.
