Sheppard Mullin Advised Jonel Engineering in Acquisition by SRM Concrete
The firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice represented Jonel Engineering, a supplier of computerized concrete plant control software and systems, of its acquisition by SRM Concrete, the largest ready-mix concrete manufacturer in the country. Terms of the acquisition were not publicly disclosed.
Founded in a garage by John Lawson, the grandfather of the Jonel’s President, Mike Lawson, Jonel Engineering has evolved from pioneering computerized plant control systems to becoming a leading global supplier of plant control technology for the concrete industry. Today, Jonel Engineering offers comprehensive solutions in all areas of concrete production, from operations management to plant design and construction.
Established in 1999 by Mike and Melissa Hollingshead in Smyrna, Tennessee, SRM Concrete is a family-owned company that operates an expansive network of ready-mix concrete plants, quarries, cement terminals and other ancillary services across 22 states. SRM Concrete specializes in producing and supplying building material services for both commercial and residential construction projects.
The Sheppard Mullin M&A team was led by Stephen LaSala, Lyle LeBlang and Shane Killeen and included Michael Chan (employee benefits), John Crisp (tax) and Gregory Schick (executive compensation).
