Sheppard Mullin Continues to Grow Texas Healthcare Practice
Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce that Healthcare partner Tammy Woffenden has joined the firm in Houston. Woffenden was most recently a partner at Troutman Pepper Locke and served as co-chair of Locke Lord’s Health Care practice group prior to its merger with Troutman Pepper.
Woffenden’s move to Sheppard Mullin comes on the heels of partner Todd Rosenberg, who joined the Healthcare industry team in Washington, D.C. last week. Sheppard Mullin has attracted 17 lateral partners across various U.S. offices over the last year, including Texas-based healthcare partners Gene Besen, Elisha Kobre, Scarlett Singleton Nokes and Ashley Wheelock.
Woffenden’s multi-dimensional practice involves advising healthcare clients across a broad range of transactional and regulatory matters, including strategic and transformative mergers and acquisitions and private equity, regulatory and compliance matters and care delivery models. Her clients span the full spectrum of healthcare providers, including hospitals and health systems, pharmacies, home health agencies, hospice, assisted living and intermediate care facilities, equipment suppliers, laboratories and medical groups, among others.
Woffenden routinely advises her clients on fraud, waste, and abuse laws, payor/provider contracting, HIPAA and other data privacy matters, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, and licensure and related matters. She leverages this experience when assisting clients in adopting or investing in models of care delivery (including home healthcare and telehealth), care coordination, care management, and value-based care.
“Texas is a robust healthcare market. Tammy and our other new partners in our Dallas and Houston offices underscore our commitment to continuing to grow our healthcare team in Texas with the best healthcare lawyers in the state and in the country,” said Luca Salvi, chair of Sheppard Mullin. “Tammy’s deep healthcare regulatory expertise and track record of successfully guiding clients through complex regulatory and compliance challenges make her an invaluable addition. We are excited to welcome her to the firm.”
“Tammy’s broad-based experience combined with her specialized knowledge in post-acute care and innovative care delivery models strengthen our ability to support new and existing clients in a rapidly evolving industry,” said Eric Klein, co-leader of Sheppard Mullin’s Healthcare industry team. “As healthcare costs continue to rise, we are seeing more of our clients seek new solutions to improve how they are approaching care delivery – be it engaging in creative partnerships that enhance care coordination and care management across the care continuum, enhancing telehealth and home health capabilities, or bringing value-based care to the post-acute setting. Tammy’s experience brings added depth to our cutting-edge post-acute care and value-based care practice. We are thrilled that Tammy has joined our team.”
“Being a part of Sheppard Mullin’s national Healthcare team committed to serving the industry with a deep bench of attorneys coast-to-coast is an incredible opportunity,” Woffenden said. “I am excited to reunite with several former colleagues and continue to serve my clients by leveraging Sheppard Mullin’s expansive resources and industry expertise to help them navigate evolving regulatory challenges and drive growth for their businesses.”
Woffenden received her B.A., magna cum laude, and her J.D., cum laude, from The University of Texas at Austin.
