Sheppard Mullin Partner Roy Wuchitech Named DOD Deputy General Counsel
Roy Wuchitech, partner in the Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental Practice Group in Sheppard Mullin's Los Angeles office, has been named Deputy General Counsel, Department of Defense. Wuchitech will supervise the attorneys in DOD's Environment and Installations division.
Wuchitech, who specializes in environmental law and complex civil litigation at Sheppard Mullin, in his new position will assume responsibility for legal advice and services in the areas of environmental law and DOD installations. His scope of duties and responsibilities concern the use, development and management of the country's natural and cultural resources; management and use of real property by the DOD worldwide; the cleanup of hazardous waste contamination; and compliance with environmental laws.
Wuchitech leads the firm's Environmental and Military Base Realignment and Closure ("BRAC") team. His practice includes all aspects of Military Base Realignment and Closure, environmental compliance and auditing, regulatory matters and environmental litigation.
In his new position, Wuchitech will have primary responsibility to provide legal advice and services to the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisitions), the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Environmental Security), the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Public Affairs), among other members of the immediate staff of the Secretary of Defense.
