Sheppard Mullin Obtains Another State Fund Win

Partner Jim Burgess represented State Fund in an eight-day jury trial in Santa Barbara in an insurance bad faith and breach of contract case. The plaintiff sought compensatory damages, attorneys' fees and punitive damages of an unspecified amount. Before trial, the Plaintiff demanded $250,000. On May 9, the jury returned a unanimous defense verdict on the tortious bad faith claim and a near-unanimous verdict on the breach of contract claim.
