IP Litigator Bruce Chapman Joins Sheppard Mullin
Bruce G. Chapman has joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as a partner in the firm's 70-attorney Intellectual Property practice group, based in the firm's Los Angeles office. Chapman joins from Connolly Bove Lodge & Hutz in Los Angeles. Earlier this year, Sheppard Mullin added two IP litigation partners: Ed Anderson in Palo Alto and partner Jill Pietrini in Century City.
"Bruce is a formidable IP litigator, who has regularly been recognized among the top IP attorneys in the state. With a diverse tech client roster that includes clients in the computers, electronics, telecom, medical devices and software areas, his practice dovetails well with our IP and tech industry capabilities," said Guy N. Halgren, chairman of Sheppard Mullin.
"I am excited to join Sheppard Mullin. The strength and breadth of the firm's IP group is very impressive, throughout the state and nationwide. Sheppard Mullin's successful expansion and entrepreneurial culture have also been very attractive to me," Chapman commented.
"Bruce joins Sheppard Mullin as part of our strategic goal of adding attorneys with thriving practices who have an interest in continuing to grow our IP practice. He brings a significant IP practice to our Los Angeles office and further strengthens our litigation capabilities. Bruce fits extremely well with the firm's collegial atmosphere that has become Sheppard Mullin's cultural trademark," said Nick Setty, co-chair of Sheppard Mullin's Intellectual Property practice group.
Chapman’s practice focuses on patent litigation and he also represents clients in trademark, copyright, trade secret, antitrust and other intellectual property related litigation. His litigation experience includes representing companies in the many areas of advanced technologies such as medical devices, electronics, software, biotechnology and telecommunications. Chapman has represented clients in more than 50 litigations and appeals, serving as lead trial counsel in more than a dozen cases.
Chapman received his J.D., with honors, from George Washington University Law School in 1987 and a B.ME., magna cum laude, from University of Detroit in 1983.
