Sheppard Mullin Awards Gray Buccigross The 2013 Bob Gerber Pro Bono Attorney of The Year

01.08.2014

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP announced today that it has awarded associate Gray Buccigross the firm's 2013 Bob Gerber Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award.  This award honors and recognizes the important community service work done by Sheppard Mullin attorneys.  Buccigross, a 2004 cum laude graduate of Harvard University Law School, is based in the firm’s Del Mar office and a member of Sheppard Mullin's Intellectual Property practice group.

In addition to personally handling pro bono matters, Buccigross leads efforts on the Del Mar office’s signature pro bono program: a partnership with Casa Cornelia Law Center, a public interest law firm focusing on victims of human and civil rights violations.  Last year he was awarded Casa Cornelia’s 2013 La Mancha Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for his tremendous efforts.  Buccigross has also been responsible for building a pro bono partnership with the San Diego Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, taking the lead on planning volunteer outings with in-house lawyers for Make a Difference Day.

Buccigross remarked, "I am truly honored to be recognized by the firm for my Casa Cornelia work.  Sheppard is a firm that encourages attorneys to take the initiative and seize these pro bono opportunities.  I will always be grateful for that encouragement because few things are better than helping clients in need find hope and justice."

Partner Dan Brown, Sheppard Mullin's pro bono committee chair, commented, “Pro bono is one of the finest traditions of our profession.  We are very thankful to Gray for his dedication and hard work to grow our pro bono program.  Specifically, his successful partnership with Casa Cornelia Law Center has offered our attorneys an excellent opportunity to serve the community, while achieving personal fulfillment and professional development.”

Sheppard Mullin's Bob Gerber Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award is the firm's highest pro bono honor, and was implemented to recognize and reward the important community service work done by Sheppard Mullin attorneys.  The award is named in the honor and memory of Bob Gerber, who was the founder of Sheppard Mullin’s pro bono program and its leader for over a decade.
