Jennifer Renk Brings Land Use and Environmental Expertise to Sheppard Mullin San Francisco
Jennifer E. Renk has joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP in the firm’s Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental practice group, based in the firm's San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. Renk joins from McKenna, Long & Aldridge, where she served on the firm’s Board of Directors.
Renk's practice focuses on land use and environmental law, with particular expertise in the California Environmental Quality Act. She advises clients as to the regulatory and political hurdles facing development projects across the state, with an emphasis on commercial, residential, mixed-use, and high tech projects.
Prior to attending law school, Renk worked as District Director for U.S. Representative Ellen Tauscher. In that capacity, she devised the congresswoman's district strategy, served as her primary point-of-contact in the community, and advised her on land use, transportation and other public policy issues facing her constituents in the 10th Congressional District. Renk also worked for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer as a staff assistant, spearheading the senator's judicial nomination process and resolving constituent disputes with federal agencies. Her unique political experience serves her extremely well as she navigates entitlement projects through highly politicized environments.
Renk’s representative matters have included the following:
Crystal Springs Uplands School - Represent independent school with respect to the procurement of entitlements for its new middle school campus in Belmont, CA.
Hillbrook School - Represent independent school with respect to its conditional use permit amendment in Los Gatos, CA.

Renk received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2003 and a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College in 1990.
Earlier this year, a seven-attorney group joined Sheppard Mullin’s Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental practice group in San Diego from McKenna, Long & Aldridge. This group included partners Nancy Scull and David Hymer.
