Healthcare Partner Michael Paddock Joins Sheppard Mullin Washington, D.C.
Michael W. Paddock has joined Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP as a partner in the Corporate practice group and as a member of the firm’s Healthcare Team, based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Paddock joins from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP.
For more than 15 years, Paddock has represented healthcare providers throughout the United States involving fraud and abuse matters, particularly those relating to civil False Claims Act, physician self-referral (Stark Law) and anti-kickback issues. His clients include hospitals, health systems, physician group practices, durable medical equipment suppliers, medical device companies and their trade associations. Paddock advises clients with respect to compliance and transactional matters, internal investigations, and responding to and defending against government anti-fraud and abuse enforcement efforts and regulatory inquiries, such as qui tam and government allegations of False Claims Act violations.

Paddock received a LL.M. in Health Law from Loyola University Chicago's Institute for Health Law, a J.D. with Honors from Boston University School of Law, and an undergraduate degree from Miami University of Ohio. He is an active member of the American Health Lawyers Association, serving for many years as a member of the Fraud and Compliance Forum Planning Committee, as a former Vice-Chair of the Fraud and Abuse practice group's Steering Committee, and as former Chair of that practice group's Enforcement Committee. In 2006, Paddock was named an Outstanding Young Health Care Lawyer by Nightingale's Health Care News.
