Sheppard Mullin Represented Greenbacker in $186 Million Credit Agreement to Support Construction of Two of the Largest Solar Projects in Company History
Sheppard Mullin advised Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC (“Greenbacker”), a leading green energy investment company and independent power producer, in its senior credit agreement of $186.2 million with KeyBank N.A. and Fifth Third Bank to support the construction of two of the biggest solar projects, MTSun and Fall River solar farms, in Greenbacker’s history.
The MTSun and Fall River solar farms, located in Yellowstone County, Montana, and Fall River County, South Dakota, respectively, will be among the largest solar energy facilities in their states. The solar farms are expected to power more than 34,000 homes across the two states, while offsetting more than 260,000 metric tons of carbon emissions. The transaction is one of Greenbacker’s major standalone debt financings to date, ranking among the company’s five greatest clean energy projects.
The deal team representing Greenbacker was led by Laurette Petersen and Adam Barton, and included Andrew Ratts, Amit Kalra, Kevin Ryan, William Rappolt and Sarah Ben-Moussa.
