Sheppard Mullin was once again recognized by Legal 500 Belgium as a recommended firm for Competition (EU and Global) for and Customs, Trade, WTO and Anti-Dumping (Belgium).
The firm’s Belgium EU Competition & Regulatory practice continues to be highly regarded for its state aid expertise, particularly in representing Air France-KLM and Air France in a series of complex state aid cases totaling €12.4bn since 2020. According to Legal 500, “The team led by Jacques Derenne has a unique expertise and experience in State aid matters, including complex ones, that probably have no equivalent in Europe.” Legal 500 also noted the firm’s representation of Casio, led by partner Oliver Heinisch, in a collective opt-out damages action in front of the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal brought by Elisabetta Sciallis.
Sheppard Mullin’s International Trade practice was highlighted for “its knowledge of cross-border trade and tariffs” and the fact that it “brings deep expertise concerning investment and transaction clearance and sanctions and export control compliance.” The firm’s Brussels team is led by partner Curtis Dombek, who Legal 500 notes “acts for clients in export control and sanctions compliance mandates, leveraging a particularly strong relationship with US-headquartered multinational companies.”
