Overview
Calla Simeone is an associate in the Business Trial Practice Group in the firm's Washington, D.C. office and a member of the firm’s Healthcare Team.
Areas of Practice
Calla represents individuals and corporations in complex commercial litigation and government investigations. A substantial portion of Calla’s practice is devoted to representing healthcare clients, including hospitals and health systems, managed care organizations, and physician and specialty practice groups. She has experience defending these clients in commercial disputes and litigation and government investigations involving allegations under the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, and similar anti-fraud statutes. She also assists companies in conducting internal investigations regarding allegations of fraud and developing cost-effective and practical compliance programs.
Calla is a member of the firm’s Women in Healthcare Leadership Collaborative, whose goal is to promote the advancement of women in the healthcare industry.
Calla also maintains an active pro bono practice. She is currently part of a team advocating for the expansion and full implementation of alternate emergency response systems, such as peer support teams, to respond to people in mental health crises.
Calla received her M.Sc. in International Health Policy from the London School of Economics, where she wrote her dissertation on the role of public-private partnerships in drug development. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she worked as a student attorney in Georgetown’s Health Justice Alliance Legal Clinic, a medical-legal partnership, representing clients in D.C. Superior Court.
