11.21.2024

Sheppard Mullin’s New York Real Estate team advised Sotheby’s, the world's premier destination for art and luxury, with the real estate purchase of 945 Madison Avenue (Breuer Building) located in the Upper East Side of New York for $100 million. The transaction was recognized as the largest New York City deal for the week of November 4th.

Sotheby’s will move its primary showroom and auction facilities to the new location from its present York Avenue headquarters. The building, which opened in 1966, was the former location of the Whitney Museum of American Art designed by famed architect Marcel Breuer.

The team that represented Sotheby’s was led by partner and leader of the firm’s New York Real Estate, Energy, Land Use & Environmental team Peter Koffler, together with New York special counsel Darby Brown and associate Evan Dorman.
